Who is Mr. Lyons?
I would like to take this opportunity to
introduce myself. My name is Andy Lyons and I am an Assistant
Principal. I worked this past year as an Academic Coach and before that
I was a Kindergarten teacher for 8 years. I really enjoyed being an Academic Coach at West Creek Elementary. I am going back to home to Barkers Mill to be the Assistant Principal.
Where does he teach?
I
taught Kindergarten at St. Bethlehem Elementary School for 6 years and 2 years at Barkers Mill Elementary. I was the Academic Coach at West Creek Elementary and I am now the Assistant Principal at Barkers Mill Elementary.

I
graduated from Union University in Jackson, TN, with a degree in
Elementary and Middle School Education in 2000. I graduated from
Trevecca Nazarene University with a Master's Degree in Educational
Leadership in 2004. I am very interested in getting my doctoral degree
- we'll see when I embark on that journey.
Leadership Experience:
While
at St. Bethlehem Elementary I served as the Kindergarten Team Leader
and School Improvement Building Chair for 4 years, technology
coordinator, leadership team, literacy team and held many other
responsibilities. I was a a Chair of Excellence for Technology and
Station Ideas.
While at Barkers Mill I served on the
Administrative Team, Leadership Team, Academic Team, After-School
Program Administrator, School Improvement Building Chair, Mentor Teacher and Director of the New
Teacher/Mentor Program.
While at West Creek I will serve on the Leadership Team, Mentor Teacher and Director of the New Teacher/Mentor Program, PLC Leader and Staff Development Instructor - plus many other things that I am unaware of at this point! HA!

While
at Barkers Mill Elementary I was selected as Barkers Mill Elementary's

I was just recently selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Registry of Executives and Professionals. I am very honored and humbled with this acknowledgment.
Teacher Resources Written/Published:
I
have published 2 resource notebooks for teachers - How to Effectively
Teach Popcorn Words to Kindergarten Students and Vocabulary Builders:
How to build your student's vocabulary knowledge, handwriting and
reading skills and syllabication. I also many other resources that can be downloaded after you pay. If you are interested in ordering them click here
Interests:
I
love frogs (fake frogs of course) and my favorite color is green -
these are the two things that students learn about me really fast.
While at St. Bethlehem Elementary I painted my classroom green and had
frogs everywhere, which the students really enjoyed. I did not paint my
classroom at Barkers Mill Elementary due to being at a new school,
however I did have frogs everywhere. My students have contributed to my
frog collection each year.
I
enjoy spending time with family and friends, working out at the YMCA
and watching movies. I attend Grace Community Church where I teach
Kindergarten Sunday School, lead a small group of youth as a life coach
and am a part of a small group Bible study.
The
goal of this website is to be a resource for fellow educators. My new
job is to provide staff development for the faculty & staff at my
school. I want to be able to provide resources and professional
development for teachers all over the world. If you have any ideas or
things you want to see let me know and I will see what I can do. Enjoy!
